A pair of Victorian ornamental china jugs, each measuring approximately 8.6cm (3.4in) in height and 7.4cm (2.9in) in diameter at the base, with bluish-pink lustre finish and handpainted rose design with gilt trim; one jug is marked with an incised "X" to the base. Both jugs have small chips to the external edge of the pouring lip, and one has a large chip (about 0.8 x 0.4cm / 0.3 x 0.15in) to the base edge, whilst the other has a tiny nibble to the base edge; there is considerable wear to the gilt together with scratches, slight scuffs and slight marking to the surface. There are numerous manufacturing imperfections including inconsistencies in shape, glazed-over chips and small unglazed patches to the base edges, lumps (including three large glazed-over protrusions to the interior of one jug), spot marks and occasional pinholes in the glaze.
