A pair of ornamental pottery clogs with hollow-moulded heels, age unknown (perhaps c.1930s), in a matt yellow painted finish to the exterior (greenish to the front / toe, orangey to the back / heel) and shiny pale brown glazed to the interior. The clogs, which each measure approximately 22.5cm (8.85in) long, 7.4cm (2.9in) wide and 9.5cm (3.75in) tall, both have an impressed mark to the underside of the toe, consisting of a fleur-de-lys within a diamond with the name "ELLIOTT" below; we have not been able to find any information about the maker. The paint has a crackled finish to much of the surface, with considerable age wear and marking and a few small areas of chipping / loss, especially around the openings and near the toes, and the interiors are crazed, whilst one has a couple of hairline cracks around the heel (visible on the inside only); there are some manufacturing irregularities and imperfections.
