Pair of framed Victorian engravings of Warwick and Kenilworth Castles (Warwickshire)
A pair of Victorian engravings, one of "Warwick Castle Before the Fire" by H. Warren and E. P. Brandard, and the other of "Kenilworth Castle" by H. Warren and J. Godfrey; the reference to the Warwick Castle fire indicates a date of no earlier than 1871. The engravings have been coloured, perhaps in fairly recent times, and have been mounted in modern black and silver-gilt-effect frames with grey card mounts. The frames measure approximately 32.6 x 29.5cm (12.85 x 11.6in), whilst the exposed area of each engraving is approximately 19.9 x 16.8cm (7.85 x 6.6in). Each engraving has a few brown spots (foxing), and significant discoloration around the edges with lesser discoloration throughout; the Kenilworth engraving has a couple of small patches of damage to the surface of the paper near the upper edges. The frames and mounts, meanwhile, are in good condition apart from very slight wear and a few tiny marks.
