A pair of antique hand-coloured engravings of Greenwich and Deptford, Kent, c.1720, in modern black and gilt frames with mounts; the frames each measure approximately 28 x 21.7cm (11 x 8.55in), whilst the visible area of each engraving (excluding the underlying titles) is approximately 16.9 x 12.9cm (6.65 x 5.1in). Both engravings show the River Thames, with various vessels, in the foreground, and buildings in the background (notably Greenwich Hospital). The Deptford engraving has had a rectangular portion (visible area approximately 1.1 x 2.3cm / 0.45 x 0.9in) cut from the bottom left corner, and an attempt has been made to colour a piece of paper underneath to match the missing piece; there are also tears to the bottom corners, the longer tear (to the bottom right) being about 6.5cm (2.55in) long. The Greenwich engraving, meanwhile, has a largish brown stain to the top left corner; both engravings have considerable age wear and discoloration, numerous small marks and stains and occasional creases. The frames, however, are in very good condition apart from slight chipping / cracking at the corners, whilst the mounts are in similarly good condition apart from slight marking.
