A large vintage New Devon Pottery (Newton Abbot) jug, c.1960s, glazed in plain cornflower blue to the exterior and off-white to the interior, measuring approximately 13.8cm (5.45in) in height and 13.8cm (5.45in) across including handle and lip; the base is marked with a large round black printed stamp depicting an otter and a jug with the words "MADE IN ENGLAND / NEW DEVON POTTERY . NEWTON ABBOT" (indistinct in part). Unlike much vintage "blueware", the outside is finished in shiny rather than matt glaze, and is not incised with any place or other name. There is some crazing to the base of the interior, together with age wear including numerous surface scratches and marking to the interior and foot, whilst there are numerous manufacturing imperfections including unevenness to the rim and the internal surface, a few short glazed-over fault lines (one near the lip, the rest to the interior) and several pinholes in the glaze.
