An interesting 24-page promotional booklet, approximately 24.8 x 17.8cm (9.75 x 7in), entitled "Hardware That makes Life easier", published by the National Federation of Ironmongers for distribution by its member stores; this copy has printed on the front "With the Compliments of / Herbert Westlake (prop. M. Biscombe) / Ironmonger / 12 Fore Street, Newquay / Cornwall / Telephone: 2109". Besides an introductory page and two pages of household hints, there are numerous advertisements for hardware items including Pyrex, Aladdin lamps and heaters, Tala kitchenware, Rawlplug, Salter scales and many more. The booklet is undated, but appears to be c.1950, judging by its appearance and content, including a few references to the continuation of post-war austerity, for instance a reference to meat rationing in the advert for Spong mincers. There are some marks to the front cover, together with age discoloration, some creasing and bumping to edges and corners, and rust to staples, but it is in good condition overall for its age.
