A Victorian ceramic pot by Minton, in glossy light greyish-green and white glaze, attractively modelled as a bundle or basket of bamboo with a pleasing degree of detail, and measuring approximately 5.9cm (2.3in) in height and 9.5cm (3.75in) in diameter at the top. The base is stamped "MINTON" together with a small cross, a smaller "D" and a mark resembling an angular "G", which indicates that the piece was made in 1868. There are, unfortunately, two hairline cracks, extending from about half to two thirds of the way down the side, and visible both inside and out (although only on fairly close inspection), together with some patches of scratching and age wear to the base; there are also numerous small manufacturing imperfections including some short fault lines or firing cracks and pinholes in the glaze.
