A set of four 1930s vintage Midwinter pottery bowls, in pale cream glaze with Art Deco geometric transfer-printed border pattern in red, black and grey, each measuring approximately 16.3cm (6.4in) in diameter and 2.8cm (1.1in) in height at the rim; each bears a circular black printed stamp with the words "MIDWINTER / PORCELON / BURSLEM / ENGLAND" (in varying degrees of legibility). Three of the bowls are finely crazed throughout, one with brown staining to the crazing, whilst the other has a small number of craze lines; one of the finely crazed bowls has a hairline crack to the edge (approximately 2cm / 0.8in long to the upper surface, longer to the underside where it joins up with the crazing) plus a tiny chip to the rim; all four bowls have significant age wear including scratching and abrasion to the surfaces and varying degrees of wear and discoloration to the transfers, together with some roughness to the edges (presumably dating from manufacture) and various imperfections in the glaze. In view of their condition, these are offered for sale as ornamental / collector's items only, and are not recommended for food use.
