Hardback, 246pp (plus title, preface and contents pages and editorial note), measuring approximately 13.8 x 21.3 x 3cm (5.45 x 8.4 x 1.2in). This manual of archive work, produced for the Society of Local Archivists in conjunction with the County Councils Association and the Library Association, describes the functions of the local record office and the duties of the archivist, and gives descriptions of different types of records; although some of the information given will by now have been superseded, there is much that remains relevant to the present-day archivist. This is an ex-library copy in hardback library binding (without dustjacket), with stamps, inked figures and sticker. The cover is slightly bumped with slight wear to the corners and spine edges; when the book is closed, the page edges show age-related discoloration, marking and very slight bumping, whilst the tips of the top corners are slightly bumped / indented, and there are some pressure marks on the outer pages; the pages are slightly tanned with a few marks but are otherwise in good clean condition.
