Large old salt glazed stoneware pot with handle (could be used as a container for kitchen utensils)

A large old (very possibly Victorian) stoneware pot with single vertically ribbed handle, finished in brown salt glaze to the exterior and mushroom-coloured glaze to the interior, and measuring approximately 14.3cm (5.65in) in height and 16.2cm (6.4in) in diameter at the top; the base, which is mostly unglazed, is impressed near the edge with an old-fashioned figure "4".  There is some wear and marking to the surface of the pot (especially to the base) commensurate with its age, together with numerous manufacturing imperfections such as might be expected in an utilitarian piece of this nature.  Although we do not know what this piece would have originally been used for, we think it would make an useful container for kitchen utensils, and would be especially suitable for use in a Victorian or farmhouse / cottage style kitchen.
