A pair of c.1950s-60s vintage West German pottery "fat lava" ashtrays by Jopeko, each having a handle / cigarette rest and one having an additional pair of lugs, each measuring approximately 7.8cm (3.05in) in diameter (excluding handles / lugs) and 2.2cm (0.85in) tall, in matt white glaze with purplish-brownish-black crackling and a motif of three coloured glazed dots to the upper surface, and shiny black glaze to the underside. One bears the number "700" moulded in relief to the base, whilst the other is impressed "700 / FOREIGN"; although neither bears the manufacturer's name, this design is known to have been produced by Jopeko, closely resembling Jasba "Cortina" ware but being distinguishable from it by the coloured dots. There are a few nibbles to the edges / corners of the handles / lugs, together with some age wear including slight marking, scratching and abrasion to the glazed surfaces and marking to the feet (one has some pencil marks - possibly an original price - to the foot), whilst there is some crazing together with other imperfections in the glaze.
