John Bull "Mend-A-Tear" (Black Outfit) tin, c.1930s-50s

A c.1930s-50s vintage John Bull "Mend-A-Tear" (Black Outfit - "Mends Waterproofs & Other Garments") tin (empty), by John Bull Rubber Co. Ltd., Leicester, with hinged lid with blue-green and black printed design, gilt finish to the interior and exterior of the main body of the tin (not to the inside lid), measuring approximately 8.2 x 5.7 x 1.7cm (3.25 x 2.25 x 0.65in).  There is some age wear including numerous scratches, discoloration, slight marking, rust spotting and print loss to the outside lid, scratching and surface corrosion to the remainder of the exterior, and slight tarnish and rust spotting to the interior; there is a slight linear indentation to the base.
