How We Used To Dress (c.1955) - vintage OXO advertising children's painting book / colouring booklet

This original mid-1950s vintage advertising / promotional children's painting or colouring book, from the makers of the well-known brand of beef stock and stock cubes, depicts historical costumes from Anglo-Saxon to Edwardian times - each era accompanied by a verse in praise of the product it promotes; for instance: "Henry the Eighth had many wives / Who mostly led uncertain lives; / OXO would have kept his favour / With its special royal flavour." (The verse for the Elizabethans refers to "this new Elizabethan reign" - which implies that the booklet was produced shortly after the accession of the present Queen Elizabeth II.) Sooty, the famous glove puppet bear, makes a cameo appearance on the inside front cover: "Meet "Sooty" on children's commercial TV in some OXO adventures."

Although it has been used, and shows various signs of age (see condition description below), it remains a delightful and displayable piece of collectable vintage advertising and childhood memorabilia.
