Gilbeys London Gin stoneware advertising ashtray (SOLD)

A dark green glazed stoneware ashtray advertising "Gilbeys London Gin", measuring approximately 12.1cm (4.75in) in diameter and 2.5cm (1in) in depth; the unglazed base bears the printed mark "J G N".  Apart from some light scratching to the surface and wear to the foot, it is in very good condition.  Although Victorian or Edwardian in appearance, we do not know how old it actually is; in view of its condition, we suspect that it is a fairly modern piece - unless you know better!  (Please note that the colour differs slightly from the photos - that shown in the photo of the underside is perhaps closest to the actual colour.)
