G. J. Whyte-Melville, "Katerfelto: A Story of Exmoor" (Ward Lock "The World Library" series) (London and Melbourne, Ward, Lock & Co., Limited, n.d., c.1900-20).  Hardcover (dark green cloth boards with embossed design to front cover and spine, gilt title to spine, Arts and Crafts style peacock design to inside covers / endpapers), 295pp plus 16-page publisher's catalogue of "Popular Fiction", measuring approximately 11.8 x 17.4 x 2.4cm (4.65 x 6.85 x 0.95in).  This historical novel, first published in 1875, was inspired by stories of a legendary Exmoor stallion of the same name.  No dustjacket; the cover is slightly marked with some wear to the corners and slight bumping and wear to edges, but is otherwise in good condition; there are some brown marks to the inside covers / endpapers, with an old pre-decimal price in pencil to the inside front cover, whilst the first (pre-title) page bears the original owner's name and address in ink; the pages are discoloured with some marks, slight tanning and occasional bumps to edges and some bumping / creasing to corners, but remain in generally good condition for their age.
