An early 20th century vintage colour print of "Silent Persuasion", an historical romantic scene by Laura Theresa Alma-Tadema (1852-1909; second wife of the more famous Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema), in its original gilt frame with paper mount and old hanging cord (which the purchaser may wish to replace), retaining its original paper backing with the label of a London firm of picture frame makers; the frame measures approximately 22.9 x 34.3 x 1cm (9 x 13.5 x 0.4in), the visible area of the print 12.6 x 24.1cm (4.95 x 9.5in). The print itself remains in good condition, although it may or may not have discoloured with age; there is some discoloration and light buckling to the mount; there is some age wear to the frame including areas of wear to the gilt, scratching, chipping to edges and corners, marking and discoloration, and there are a few old woodworm holes to the back of the frame, together with some rust to the pins; the backing paper is worn and discoloured, and has been patched at the top.
