A Foley China "The Babes in the Wood" nursery ware mug, c.1910, measuring approximately 7.4cm (2.9in) in height and 7.1cm (2.8in) in diameter at the top, with a large hand-coloured transfer picture to one side and a verse or rhyme beginning "The owls were trying hard to sing" to the other, together with gilt trim to the rim and handle. The base is marked with a green printed "THE FOLEY CHINA / ENGLAND" crown and monogram stamp, the printed registration number "397890" and a small painted "3". There is some crazing to the base and handle, together with some minor scratches, wear to the gilt and age wear / marking to the foot; there are some minor imperfections to the china including a small glazed nibble to the handle, as well as various imperfections to the transfer.
