Hardcover (green cloth boards with printed floral decoration and gilt titles), 80pp plus attractive colour frontispiece, measuring approximately 11.8 x 17.4 x 1.2cm (4.65 x 6.85 x 0.45in). A tale for children, in which "Squirrel" (a village boy who has gained his nickname because of his fondness for tree-climbing) runs away from his grandparents, but through Divine providence is preserved from danger and brought back home; the title refers to the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15, vv.11-32). No dustjacket; there is considerable damp damage to the surface of the cover, together with marking, discoloration and general wear including bumping to the edges and corners; the pages are discoloured with tanning to some edges, occasional marks and slight edge wear including a few minor indentations; there is some weakness to the binding.
