E. & M. A. Radford, "Who Killed Dick Whittington?" (An Inspector Manson Mystery) (London etc., Andrew Melrose Ltd., n.d., probably late 1940s). Hardcover (grey-green cloth boards) with original colour pictorial dustjacket, 200pp, measuring approximately 12.5 x 19 x 2.4cm (4.9 x 7.5 x 0.95in). "The Pavilion Theatre at Burlington-on-Sea was crowded with an audience watching the annual pantomime, Dick Whittington. The shop scene had been played; Dick, accused of theft, had been turned out of the Fitzwarren Store and was tramping the roads with his cat. He reached the milestone on Highgate Hill and sat down on the mossy bank of the famous fairy story to sleep and dream of Bow Bells ringing "Turn Again, Whittington, Lord Mayor of London." But this evening he did not hear the bells. For in the full glare of the stage lights, within sight of the large audience, Dick Whittington had been murdered. ..." A scarce title, especially hard to find complete with dustjacket. The dustjacket is marked and discoloured with fading to the spine, together with age wear including tears, creases, scratches, bumping to edges, and some loss (mainly to the top of the spine and the back cover); the cover is slightly marked with fading to the edges and slight wear including bumping to edges and corners; the pages are discoloured with foxing (mainly to the end pages and page edges), other occasional marks, slight edge and corner wear and the odd corner crease.
