Displayette Transparent Display Shelf, unused in original box, c.1950s

A "Displayette Transparent Display Shelf", by Nield's Patents Ltd., Cardiff, c.1950s, made of clear plastic, unused and in its original box which attractively depicts the product in use in typically 1950s settings.  A leaflet inside the box describes the different sizes and shapes ("centre" and "corner") that were produced; this is the "large centre" model, with bow front, which measures approximately 16.8cm (6.6in) wide, protrudes approximately 15.1cm (5.95in) at the centre, and stands about 15.5cm (6.1in) tall including the supporting bracket.  The set originally included four hard steel fixing pins, which are no longer present, but which can of course readily be replaced.  There is some scratching and scuffing (mostly light, and some probably from manufacture) and light marking to the plastic; there is some creasing, bumping, slight marking and discoloration to the box, together with discoloration and age wear to the leaflet.
