A commemorative ceramic mug, in white glaze with part hand-coloured brown transfer decoration and gilt trim, produced by an unknown manufacturer for Harrods (the famous London department store) to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria (1837-1897), measuring approximately 7.9cm (3.1in) in height and 8.4cm (3.3in) in diameter at the base.  The design to one side incorporates a portrait of the Queen with the words "VICTORIA / "THE GOOD" / DEI GRATIA / GREAT BRITAIN / QUEEN OF / & IRELAND / 1837 / 1897 / EMPRESS /  OF / INDIA / GOD SAVE / THE QUEEN", whilst to the other side is a scroll with the words "IN COMMEMORATION / OF THE REIGN OF / QUEEN VICTORIA / THE LONGEST REIGN / OF ANY PREVIOUS MONARCH".  The distinguishing feature of this mug, however, is that the remainder of the design incorporates small pictorial representations of leisure pursuits: "Football", "Cycling", "Yachting", "Cricket", "Golf", "Racing", "Shooting", "Driving (Motor Car)" and "Fishing" (most of the word "Golf", however, is missing owing to an imperfection in the transfer).  To the base is the oval brown transfer mark "MANUFACTURED FOR HARRODS STORES LD / LONDON" and the rectangular brown transfer mark "RD. NO. 294252 / MADE IN ENGLAND", together with a small red handpainted number "15" and a small gilt mark.  There is some age wear including several scratches and spots of abrasion to the surface, considerable wear to the gilt and lesser wear / imperfections to the remainder of the decoration, together with marking to the foot and a small patch of old paint (or similar) stuck to the outer rim; there are numerous manufacturing imperfections including a defect to the outer rim, a couple of small rough patches to the rim, a horizontal hairline crack or fault line about 5cm (1.95in) long just below the inside rim (mostly beneath the glaze), and numerous spot and other marks together with some bumps in the glaze.
