A design classic typical of its era, this Denby Stoneware "Burlington" small plant / flower pot is finished in matt black glaze with white trim and part white, part stone-colour interior. Dating from the mid- to late 1950s or early 1960s, it measures approximately 8.7cm (3.45in) in height, 10cm (3.95in) in diameter at the top and 7.2cm (2.85in) in diameter at the base, which bears the black printed "DENBY / STONEWARE / MADE IN ENGLAND" scroll stamp. There is some staining and marking to the interior together with slight marking to the exterior; there is considerable bubbling and blistering to the black glaze, together with other minor manufacturing imperfections. Nevertheless, this piece would look great as part of a retro-style or contemporary decorative scheme!
