Product description

Daughters in Law - Henry Cecil (1st edition, 1961) - vintage hardback fiction book

An original early 1960s first edition hardcover from the author of "Brothers in Law" and other works of humorous fiction concerning the British legal system, with its original pictorial dustwrapper designed by "Riviere": "Mr Justice Coombe, one of the great judges of his generation, has attractive twin daughters, one of whom goes to the Bar while the other becomes a solicitor. They fall in love with the sons of Major Claude Buttonstep. He is normally a mild and charming, kindly man but he has a pathological aversion to lawyers. The major's sons are most anxious to reconcile their father to their proposed marriages but they have no success. While they are considering how to attain their object their father is forced into litigation with a neighbour. This action and the circumstances which lead up to it are likely to become well-known to those who enjoy the author's legal frolics."

Whilst the book shows various signs of age (see condition description below), it remains complete and fully legible, and would make a lovely addition to a collection of vintage books - or a great display accessory for a vintage-style interior or a recreation of an early 1960s period room setting.
