Daily Mail double-sided Motor Road Map, c.1950

A Daily Mail double-sided Motor Road Map, c.1950 (original price 6 shillings) based on the Ordnance Survey maps, one side being a map of the Greater London area, scale 1 mile to 1 1/4 inches, the other being a map of south-east England, scale 4 miles to 1 inch.  The red card cover, which measures approximately 13.8 x 28.6cm (5.45 x 11.25in), has advertisements for Lucas car batteries and REDeX to the inside; the map folds into 24 sections, and measures approximately 100 x 81.9cm (39.35 x 32.25in).  The map itself has several marks and stains to both sides including red stains in areas adjacent to the cover, moderate discoloration, wear to the folds ("pinholes" to corners but no tearing) and general age wear; the cover is very much bumped around its edges, creased and marked.
