Crown Ducal Art Deco wine flask for Emu Australian Wines (Coronation commemorative, 1937)

An Art Deco pottery wine flask by Crown Ducal, in light brown semi-matt glaze, produced for Emu Australian Wines "to commemorate the Coronation of Their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, May 12, 1937", and measuring approximately 18.6 x 16.5 x 8.1cm (7.3 x 6.5 x 3.2in).  The front and back are each transfer printed with one half of the map of the world in colour, with the British Empire in red, whilst a black transfer commemorating the Coronation appears on the side below the opening.  The base is printed with a large black "EMU / AUSTRALIAN / WINES" transfer mark (with pictorial trademark), together with a dark blue "Crown Ducal / Made in / England" printed mark, and is impressed "ENGLAND".  There would originally have been a cork stopper with a round red knob, now missing.  Most of the surface is finely crazed, and there is some surface marking and a few scratches, together with some slight wear and scratching to the transfers; there is also a small fleabite together with the usual age wear and marking to the foot (the fleabite is to the left of the word "Australian" in the photo).  There are some manufacturing imperfections including a glazed-over chip to the outer foot and some defects in the glaze.
