A Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (May 12th, 1937) commemorative pottery tankard, measuring approximately 12cm (4.7in) in height and 11.4cm (4.5in) in diameter at the base, moulded with "hammered" effect to exterior and finished in cream glaze with gilt trim, with colour transfer with sepia portraits of the King and Queen to one side, and, somewhat unusually, a small colour transfer with sepia portrait of the young Princess Elizabeth (the present Queen Elizabeth II) to the other; the base bears a somewhat indistinct black printed rectangular "MADE IN / ENGLAND" stamp together with faint incised and gilt marks. The surface is finely crazed throughout; there are some scratches / slight scuffs to the glaze together with age marking to the foot, wear to the gilt trim, and oxidation / fading and slight wear to the transfers; there are various manufacturing imperfections including pinholes and numerous tiny spot marks in the glaze, running in the glaze to the interior, and small glazed-over lumps to the inside base edge.
