Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary commemorative Royal Doulton china plate, 1911 (SOLD)

A Royal Doulton commemorative china tea plate, produced to mark the 1911 Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary, in white with gilt rim and transfer-printed design featuring colour portraits of the King and Queen, brown festoons and pink roses, and the words "AUSTRALASIA", "S. AFRICA", "INDIA" and "CANADA" (thereby acknowledging the Imperial dimension of the event).  The plate, which measures approximately 18.1cm (7.15in) in diameter, is marked to the base with the "ROYAL DOULTON / ENGLAND" printed stamp in brown together with the impressed date code "4 - 11".  There are some small scratches to the glaze, slight wear / imperfections to the transfers and gilt, and age wear / marking to the foot; there are several tiny spot / pinhole marks in the glaze together with other slight marks and minor manufacturing imperfections.
