A commemorative pottery mug, produced to mark the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on June 22, 1911, measuring approximately 8.1cm (3.2in) in height and 8.1cm (3.2in) in diameter at the top (excluding handle), in off-white with large colour transfer to one side incorporating a joint portrait of the King and Queen with the greeting "Long May They Reign", gilt rim and gilt trim to the handle; there are no maker's marks. This particular mug would have been produced cheaply for the lower end of the commemorative wares market, being of somewhat poor quality with numerous manufacturing imperfections including very noticeable running and rough areas together with numerous spot marks in the glaze, whilst there are some imperfections to the transfer. There is some crazing to the base of the interior together with several rust or similar marks to the interior and a short curved hairline crack approximately 1.2cm (0.45in) long to the base edge below the transfer; the gilt is very worn, and there is slight age wear to the transfer.
