A commemorative pottery mug by T. G. Green, produced to mark the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on June 22, 1911, measuring approximately 7.6cm (3in) in height and 7.5cm (2.95in) in diameter at the top, in off-white with a large colour transfer incorporating twin black and white portraits of the King and Queen to one side, and a pale blue transfer with the crest of Penzance (which depicts the head of John the Baptist with the motto "PENSANS ANNO DOMINI 1614") with the words "A. K. BARNETT. CC. FGS / MAYOR / 1911", together with gilt rim and gilt trim to the handle; the base bears the round green printed stamp "T. G. GREEN & CO. LTD / MADE IN / ENGLAND / CHURCH GRESLEY", albeit somewhat indistinct in parts. The surface is finely crazed throughout with age wear including slight scratching to the glaze, some wear, fading and imperfections to the transfers (the Penzance transfer appearing especially faded), moderate wear to the gilt and slight roughness to the rim; there are some manufacturing imperfections including spot marks in the glaze, small areas of stray decoration (the largest being to the top right of the main transfer) and a small glazed-over chip to the base edge.
