A commemorative china beaker, measuring approximately 10.3cm (4.05in) in height and 8cm (3.15in) in diameter at the top, produced to mark the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on June 22, 1911, in white with gilt rim and a large colour transfer-printed design featuring portraits of the King and Queen, together with a small pink rose transfer. There are no maker's marks, and it is clearly not of particularly good quality, as there is a large glazed-over chip to the base edge, together with rough patches to the rim (evidently dating from manufacture as they are gilded over), spot marks and a few pinholes in the glaze and other minor irregularities; the china is comparatively thick and is non-translucent except for a faint ring of translucence around the base (had it not been for this, we would have taken it for pottery rather than china). The glaze is finely crazed throughout; there are a few scratches and some slight marks, together with slight wear and minor imperfections to the transfers, and considerable wear to the gilt rim.
