A commemorative pottery mug (manufacturer unknown), produced in anticipation of the Coronation of King Edward VIII on 12 May 1937 (which did not take place owing to his abdication), in off-white glaze with large colour transfer (incorporating a sepia portrait of the King) to one side, measuring approximately 9.1cm (3.6in) in height and 7.5cm (2.95in) in diameter at the top; there is a green painted mark to the base. This mug is of fairly poor quality with various irregularities in the moulding (the rim is not truly circular) and manufacturing imperfections to the glaze and transfer; the glaze is finely crazed throughout with some staining to the craze lines at the base of the interior, and there are some reddish stains to the exterior, together with slight surface wear including occasional scratches.
