A commemorative mug by Foley China, produced to mark the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra on June 26, 1902, measuring approximately 7.9cm (3.1in) in height and 8.3cm (3.25in) in diameter at the base, in white glaze with a large hand-coloured transfer to one side featuring a shield with Britannia to one side and a female figure representing the British Empire (India, Canada, New South Wales, New Zealand, S[outh] Africa, Australia) to the other together with floral and animal emblems, a smaller hand-coloured transfer to the other side depicting a wreath with the words "KING / OF / GREAT BRITAIN / AND IRELAND / AND OF THE / BRITISH DOMINIONS / BEYOND / THE SEAS / EMPEROR OF INDIA", and a small hand-coloured transfer depicting a cushioned crown to one side of the interior, together with gilt rim and handle trim; the base bears the black transfer "THE FOLEY CHINA / ENGLAND" crown and monogram stamp together with the black transfer mark "RD. 380408", the number "67" handpainted in blue and a small "K" in gilt. There is a large brown-stained star-shaped crack to the base and a shallow chip approximately 2.3cm (0.9in) in length to the foot, together with a few craze lines to the external base; there is some age wear including some scratches to the surface and moderate wear to the gilt, whilst there are some patches of brown staining in places together with marking to the foot; there are some minor imperfections to the decoration, whilst there are various manufacturing imperfections in the glaze including numerous tiny bumps and pockmarks, some tiny spot marks and several pinholes (especially around the circumference of the external base edge).
