A commemorative pottery mug, produced to mark the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra on June 26, 1902, measuring approximately 8.1cm (3.2in) in height and 8.4cm (3.3in) in diameter at the top (excluding handle), in white with a large colour transfer featuring twin portraits of the King and Queen within a heart shape with the greetings "GOD BLESS THEM" and "ENTHRONED IN THE HEARTS / OF / THEIR PEOPLE" to one side (the first of these greetings is, alas, partly obliterated by a small surface chip) and a small transfer of two flags to the other, together with traces of (very worn) gilt to the rim and handle; there are no maker's marks. In addition to the surface chip already mentioned, there is a vertical hairline crack approximately 1.7cm (0.65in) long to the top left of the main transfer, together with age wear including scratching to the surface, wear and fading to the transfers and brown staining around the base edge; there are various imperfections in the glaze including unevenness to the interior, numerous spot marks and small bumps.
