A collection of early 1930s school sports photographs and certificates, all or nearly all of which relate to Cyril Edward Gansler, a pupil of Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield. The photographs are as follows: two large card-mounted photos of rugby teams, one with rugby ball dated 1931-2, the other 1932-33; two large mounted photos of cricket teams of similar date; one large card-backed photo of a runner at the finishing line; one large unmounted photo of a large number of boys at a swimming pool. The certificates were all awarded for running; three were awarded by the Birmingham and District Secondary Schools Athletic Association, and are hand-calligraphed on parchment but not dated, whilst the other two were awarded by the Birmingham and District Secondary Schools Sports Association, and are of printed card and dated 1931 and 1932 respectively. The photographs and certificates display varying degrees of wear, tear, creasing, slight fading etc; please contact us for a fuller description of the condition of each item, as it would take too much space to do so here! (As a guide to size, the photo of the 1931-2 rugby team measures approximately 23.1 x 17.3cm excluding mount.)
