A Royal Staffordshire Pottery (A. J. Wilkinson Ltd.) ornamental mug, c.1930s-50s, in the "Fruit and Basket" pattern designed by Clarice Cliff, in cream glaze with handpainted decoration, measuring approximately 10.6cm (4.15in) in height and 8cm (3.15in) in diameter (max, excluding handle); the base is marked with the green printed Royal Staffordshire / A. J. Wilkinson shield and crown stamp together with three small green painted dots, and is moulded with the number "940" together with another small moulded mark.  There is some crazing to much of the surface with staining to the craze lines to the base of the interior; there is a "knock" to the inside rim (with two short parallel horizontal cracks, each about 1.5-2cm / 0.6-0.8in long) together with age wear including scratching and abrasion to the surface and marking to the foot; there is a fine glazed-over fault line at the upper handle joint, whilst there are some imperfections in the glaze including tiny specks, occasional small bumps and pinholes.
