A book entitled "Church Services", comprising the (Anglican) Book of Common Prayer bound together with "Proper Psalms and Lessons to be used at Morning and Evening Prayer on the Sundays and other Holy-days throughout the year" (printed by C. J. Clay, at the University Press, Cambridge; the Book of Common Prayer, printed for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, is undated, whilst "Proper Psalms and Lessons" is dated 1873). The volume, which measures approximately 8.2 x 12.9 x 4.4cm, has embossed black leather board covers with brass edging and clasp and red page edges. There is considerable wear to the cover, with tearing and splitting to the spine edges and slight loss to the top and bottom of the spine, and some insect damage to the front; the brass edging has some surface wear and has been pushed very slightly out of shape, and the hinge of the clasp is loose but intact. The front endpaper is missing and the binding is loose in places; the pages are discoloured with varying degrees of foxing, marking and general wear (the frequently-used services of Morning and Evening Prayer are the most worn), together with slight bumping and the odd slight crease to the corners and some wear and discoloration to the edges.
