Carlton China crested ornamental candle snuffer with "Tunbridge Wells" crest

A Carlton China (Wiltshaw and Robinson) crested ornamental candle snuffer with "Tunbridge Wells" crest and gilt rim, early 20th century, measuring approximately 6cm (2.35in) in height and 4.4cm (1.75in) across at its widest, and marked to the inside with the black printed "W & R / STOKE ON TRENT / CARLTON CHINA" crown and swallow stamp (slightly blurred) and a small red handpainted code.  There is some age wear including scratching, abrasion and slight marking to the surface, some wear to the gilt and slight chipping to the enamel of the crest; there is some roughness to the rim dating from manufacture together with two small chips and some nibbles which may well also date from manufacture (the gilt covers a small part of one chip) and imperfections in the glaze including small lumps and marks.
