A card of "The Opake" collar supports or stiffeners, c.1910-30, made of translucent, and (despite the name) semi-transparent, celluloid. The card, which measures approximately 8.6 x 21.8cm (3.4 x 8.6in), holds eleven stiffeners (there would have originally been twelve), each measuring approximately 6.25cm (2.45in) in length except for one which is approximately 7.4cm (2.9in) long. They are fractionally shorter than the lengths of 2.5 and 3 inches stated on the card, and may have shrunk slightly and discoloured with age; some are slightly distorted. The card, meanwhile, is slightly discoloured with slight bumping to edges and corners, a crease to one corner, and a short tear to one side.
