A large 1950s Brentleigh Ware pottery vase in "Sandown" shape, measuring approximately 25cm (9.85in) in height and 9.7cm (3.8in) in diameter at the top, and decorated in a typically 1950s fashion with a lightly speckled cream silk painted finish to the exterior with a large red rose design to the front, whilst the interior has a bright red painted finish; the base is impressed "BRENTLEIGH WARE / MADE IN ENGLAND / SANDOWN", together with incised and painted code marks. The exterior has some light marking and a few scratches and scuffs, whilst the interior has some spots and marks; however, the vase has survived in very good condition for its age, considering that this kind of painted pottery was of a "cheap and cheerful" nature when new!
