Brentleigh Ware "Ballina" vase, grey with blue and yellow lines, c.1930s-40s

A Brentleigh Ware "Ballina" pottery vase, c.1930s-40s, in matt grey painted finish with an abstract pattern of vertical wavy lines in cornflower blue, yellow, dark grey and lilac, measuring approximately 17cm (6.7in) in height and 7.3cm (2.85in) in diameter at the base, which is impressed "BALLINA / S / BRENTLEIGH / WARE / ENGLAND" and marked in pencil with the number 603.  As is the case with many surviving pieces of this kind (which were cheaply produced and not intended to be especially durable), there is considerable wear (including numerous small chips) and marking to the painted finish both inside and out, although there are no cracks or chips to the pottery itself.
