A c.1930s box of eleven "Pierrot" miniature Christmas crackers (there would, of course, have originally been twelve), each measuring approximately 11.5cm (4.55in) in length, and covered with decorative red, magenta or blue and silver foil. The box, which measures approximately 25.3 x 11.8 x 2.7cm (9.95 x 4.65 x 1.05in), has a large colourful label with a picture of a pierrot to the lid, and a smaller illustrated label to the base which reads: "Hovells / MINIATURE CHRISTMAS CRACKERS / Containing / CHARMS, TRINKETS / SNAPS & CONUNDRUMS". The crackers are somewhat misshapen, creased and marked with age; nearly all have had thread attached for hanging purposes, although this should be easily removable. The box itself, meanwhile, is worn, creased, marked and discoloured with tears to some edges and corners. This nevertheless remains an unusual and attractive collector's item.
