A box of "Centre Spring White Hooks, Crescent Quality", dating from the late 19th or early 20th century and measuring approximately 6.1 x 4.1 x 2.1cm (2.4 x 1.6 x 0.85in), together with a small packet of "Superior Swan Bills" (No. 5 size), of similar age, measuring approximately 2.5 x 3.4 x 1cm (1 x 1.35 x 0.4in). The larger box, which originally held 72 No. 6 size white metal hooks, still contains a good number of hooks, but of more than one size and including some in a black japanned finish, together with some eyes; the small packet holds twenty black japanned hooks plus about the same number of eyes. The contents of both cartons remain in good condition overall, although the small packet is in a very worn, discoloured and disintegrating state, whilst the larger box is also worn, marked and discoloured with splitting to the corners of the lid.
