A "Blue Bird Chocolate Toffee (4d per qtr)" shop display tin (empty) with hinged lid, by Harry Vincent Ltd, Hunnington, near Birmingham, c.1930s. The tin, which measures approximately 22 x 17.8 x 11.3cm (8.65 x 7 x 4.45in), is printed on the outside to resemble a treasure chest, with a bluebird to the lid, whilst the inside lid is attractively printed with a bluebird and flowers; the rear edge of the lid is printed "4lbs. NET INCLUDING IMMEDIATE WRAPPINGS MADE IN ENGLAND". The outside lid is very worn with considerable rust spotting, whilst the sides are to a lesser extent worn with some rust spots and numerous scratches; the outside base is tarnished, scratched and worn with some rust spotting and the remains of an old label to one corner. The printed inside lid is in good condition with some marking and slight wear; the inside of the tin is very tarnished with some scratching and rust, whilst the edges of both the tin and its lid are somewhat distorted in places, although the lid still holds firmly shut.
