A c.1960s vintage Bitossi "Rimini Blue" Italian studio pottery bowl / candle holder, glazed in varied shades of blue, blue-green and blue-black with highly textured pattern to the exterior, and measuring approximately 7.6cm (3in) in height and 13.2cm (5.2in) in diameter at the top, the inside diameter of the candle-holding aperture being approximately 2.2cm (0.85in); the base bears the handpainted mark "735 / ITA Y". The surface is crazed throughout with some age wear including scratches and marks visible to the smooth areas, slight chipping to the glaze to the inner edge of the candle-holding aperture and a tiny nibble to the outer rim of the bowl; there are also numerous irregularities and imperfections such as should be expected in a studio piece of this type.
