A Bideford Pottery ornamental jug, probably of fairly recent date, measuring approximately 10cm (3.95in) in height and 10.7cm (4.2in) across including handle and pouring lip, in yellow-brown glaze to the exterior and deep reddish-brown to the interior, incised with the verse "This small jug / in friendship take / and keep it for / the givers sake" to the side and "Bideford Pottery / Ropewalk" below the handle. The surface is finely crazed throughout, and there is some nibbling to the pouring lip and scratching to the surface; there are various manufacturing irregularities such as would be expected in a studio piece of this nature.
