An unusual brown mottled Bakelite spill jar (for holding spills, i.e. thin strips of wood or paper used to light candles, pipes etc.), with lid, probably of 1930s vintage, measuring approximately 15.8cm (6.2in) tall and 7.6cm (3in) in diameter; it is made of thicker than average material, but has no identifying marks. The surface of the plastic is somewhat dull, and there are a few scratches and a few nibbles to the edges.
