An unusual c.1930s reddish-brown mottled Bakelite table crumb sweeper with black painted wooden handle, which contains a rotary brush and four small rubber wheels, working on the same principle as the classic Ewbank or Bissell carpet sweeper. Bakelite body (with curved lid) approximately 14.5 x 8.2 x 4.3cm; handle approximately 9.8cm long. Unfortunately one of the corners of the lid has broken off (about 1.5cm each way), and there are a few scuffs and scratches to the Bakelite, as well as slight paint loss to the handle. The brush is in fairly good condition; the internal metal compartments which hold the wheels are somewhat rusty; the wheels themselves are complete but cracked and perished, and the mechanism is somewhat stiff. This item is therefore sold not for use, but as a collectable.
