This miniature pocket hairbrush, in its original open-ended card case, appears to date from c.1900-20. The brush itself has a plated metal back with an Art Nouveau design, and light brown bristles. There is some corrosion and lifting / loss of plating to the back (especially to the edges), and slight wear to the bristles (of which a few are loose); the label on the case is tatty, discoloured and partly torn off, whilst the case itself has some surface wear and marking. It nevertheless retains its appeal as a miniature piece (the case, into which the brush fits tightly, measures approximately 7.9 x 2 x 2cm), and, since it was evidently a cheap item when first made, and not intended to last, it must be a rare survivor.
