A late Victorian or Edwardian flow blue pottery soap dish with pierced drainer (which would originally have been part of a washstand set), with Art Nouveau stylised floral design in two shades of blue / blue-green to the exterior of the base and border design in two shades of blue / blue-green with gilt rim to the drainer; there is a blue-green "F" mark together with a small brown printed flower mark to the base. The drainer measures approximately 14.5cm (5.7in) in diameter, the base 13.3cm (5.25in); the whole stands approximately 5.4cm (2.15in) tall. The base has a chip (approximately 1.1 x 0.6cm / 0.45 x 0.25in) to the outer edge together with a Y-shaped hairline crack (about 1 x 1 x 1.5cm / 0.4 x 0.4 x 0.6in) visible to the interior only, and is crazed throughout the exterior and to most of the interior; the drainer has a small unglazed patch to one of the raised areas of the border, together with some wear to the gilt rim; both parts have some age wear including scratching, abrasion and a few small pale brown stains; there are some imperfections in the glaze including numerous spot marks, a few tiny bumps and pinholes, whilst the transfers to the base are somewhat blurred and not quite level.
