An unusual Art Deco table-top microphone in greenish-yellow marbled Catalin (cast phenolic), c.1930s-40s, with original twisted cloth-braided cable and single-pin plug (see photo), manufacturer unknown but marked "PROV. PAT" at the top; the microphone measures approximately 13cm (5.1in) in height and 10.6cm (4.15in) in diameter at the base, whilst the cable is roughly 2.3m (7.5ft) in length. One of the two original internal fixing blocks and pairs of bolts holding the body of the case to the base is missing and has been replaced with a small cube of wood and a pair of non-matching bolts; the internal mechanism of the microphone rattles to some extent. The plastic may have darkened with age, and has some general age wear including various scratches, scuffs and marks, the base being particularly worn with some paint marks; a vertical moulding line is clearly visible to one side of the main body. There is some discoloration to the braiding of the cable together with a few frayed patches, and there is some age-related hardening to the rubber. Please note that this item has not been tested, and is therefore sold as a collector's item only.
